About us

Pembury Evening WI is part of the National Federation of Women's Institutes, a voluntary organisation formed in 1915 and which is now the largest voluntary organisation for women in the UK. Each branch of the WI is different and Pembury Evening WI is no exception. We were formed in October 1964 and aim to be a warm and welcoming group where you can meet new people, learn new things from our speakers and new crafts with our craft group.

Our meetings are held on the 1st Friday of the month starting at 7.45pm in the Pembury Village Hall. Homemade cakes are served with our refreshments which we have after our Speaker has finished. In 2023 we had a crafty session painting ceramics from Manic Ceramics, a talk about packing for Holidays and aslo a talk about wrapping presents. This coming year we are hearing about Coco Chanel, Walking Netball and ways to tie a scarf so a very varied programme. We will also be celebrating our 60th Birthday with a special meeting.

Members see the TWODS productions at the Assembly Halls and visit the ENO in London and we usually have the opportunity to participate in activities organised by our Federation

We have a committee of 10 who are responsible for managing Pembury Evening WI on behalf of its members.
