About Us
"Hello and welcome to Rainham Afternoon WI's Website.
We are a group of about 25 ladies who meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except August) at the Wakeley Hall, Oast House Community Centre, Granary Close, Rainham, ME8 8AG. Access is via the gate at the end of the close, with plenty of parking. We are next door to Rainham Railway Station.
Our meeting starts at 1.45 pm until 4 pm. Doors open at 1 pm.
We started in September 1989 and still have a few original members.
We invite you to come along to 3 meetings as a visitor at a cost of £2 per meeting, before deciding if you would like to join us. Subscriptions are paid annually in January but pro rata can be arranged.
We start our meeting with the business side, informing members what is going on in our WI and around the area. This is followed by a Speaker/Demonstrator. There is always a cup of Tea/Coffee and a Raffle at each meeting.
Twice a year we have Members meetings. This gives ladies a chance to have social time and a cup of tea/coffee. We also sometimes have fund raising events.
We have a monthly Magazine at a cost of £3.00 per year, which keeps you informed about events in the West Kent area.
Every summer we hold an Afternoon Tea, which is very popular and is one of our main fund raisers.
We are part of the Darland District, which is formed of 7 local WI's.
We are run by a small committee who meet once a month prior to the monthly meeting.
If you would like to join us, either contact Lynne on 01634 234997 or come along on the 3rd Thursday of the month."
